There will come a day when you leave your apartment for class without realizing it's one of the last times you'll ever make that walk.
You'll grab your coffee.
Throw your backpack over one shoulder.
Text your roommate that you're on your way.
Walk the same path you've taken hundreds of times before.
It will feel like every other day.
Until one day...
You realize it was the last.
The hardest part about college isn't graduation. It's that almost none of the moments you'll miss announce themselves while they're happening.
One ordinary Tuesday quietly becomes the last time you walk through Library Walk at UC San Diego.
One afternoon becomes the last time you watch the sunset from the University of San Diego overlooking Mission Bay.
One football game becomes the last time you cheer alongside thousands of students at San Diego State University.
You don't know it's the last.
And that's what makes it so special.
Graduation Isn't Just About Earning a Degree
When people think about college graduation photos, they often picture a cap, a gown, and a diploma.
But graduation photography is about so much more than that. It's about remembering where you became the person you are today.
Every campus holds pieces of your story.
The bench where you waited for friends.
The library where you somehow survived finals week.
The coffee shop where everyone knew your order.
The classroom that challenged you.
The path you walked hundreds of times without realizing one day you'd miss every step.

As a San Diego graduation photographer, I photograph graduates from UC San Diego, the University of San Diego, and San Diego State University every spring.
Every student tells me the same thing after their session. "I can't believe it's almost over."
College has a funny way of making four years feel both incredibly long and unbelievably short.
You remember moving into your dorm.
Meeting your roommate.
Finding your way around campus.
Wondering if you belonged.
Then one day you're ordering your cap and gown and wondering where the time went. The campus that once felt unfamiliar somehow became home. That's why I encourage every graduate to include the places that mattered most.
Maybe it's Hepner Hall.
Maybe it's Founders Chapel.
Maybe it's the fountain where you met your friends after class.
Maybe it's the quiet corner of campus where no one else even knows your story.
Those places deserve to be remembered.
Graduation Photos Should Feel Like You
Beautiful light matters.
Great locations matter.
Not just what it looked like. The laughter with your roommates. The excitement before graduation. The pride after everything you overcame. The realization that life is about to change.
Because after graduation...
The apartment keys get turned in.
The group chats get quieter.
Friends move across the country.
Coffee runs become memories.
One ordinary walk across campus becomes something you'd give anything to experience one more time.
Before This Chapter Ends...
Take the long way to class.
Watch one more sunset.
Say yes when your friends ask you to grab dinner.
Spend a little more time on campus.
Take more pictures.
Notice the little things.
Because the little things become the big things once they're gone.
And when graduation finally arrives, don't just celebrate earning your degree. Celebrate the place that helped you become who you are.
Every season of life has a way of becoming "the good old days" before we even realize it's ending. Graduation isn't just the end of college—it's the beginning of remembering it.
