How to Look Your Best: 3 Tips for Preparing for Your Senior Photos

Updated: Feb 13

Are you about to have your senior photos taken? Congratulations! This is an exciting time in your life and you want to make sure you look your best for your photos. It can be daunting to prepare for such an important shoot, but with the right tips and tricks, you can be sure that your senior photos will turn out perfectly! Here are some tips for prepping for your senior photos so you feel confident stepping in front of the camera. From selecting the perfect outfit to taking care of your skin, these photo prep tips will help you look your absolute best on the day of your shoot.

Have your hair and makeup done! You don't have to hire someone, let your best friend help you out. She can curl or straighten the back of your hair and give you the final once over to be sure your look is complete. Even if you are a "no makeup" kind of girl, a tinted moisturizer and mascara goes a long way in making your photos have a pop! And even if the wind is blowing, styling your hair even a little can help to fine-tune your images. If you'd like, add an accessory like a headband or clips to bring out some extra personality and texture to your photos. Don't forget to bring along any accessories that you plan to wear during the session.

Outifts. Typically you will want 2 outfits: one that is a bit more "everyday" - what you like to get dressed up in when going out with friends and a second one that is a bit glam! Your everyday outfit can be cute jeans, a favorite top and fun jacket and shoes while the second outfit can be your prom dress! Make sure both outfits reflect your personality and stay away from anything too busy or distracting. And, keep in mind, if we are shooting at the beach, I love to end up in the water so be sure your dress can handle the saltwater. I even have a couple dresses you can borrow like these. Accessorize, accessorize, accessorize! Adding small touches such as rings, necklaces, headbands or statement earrings can elevate your look.

Be yourself. Lastly, and most important, be yourself! And, don't be afraid to play along when we get together. I will ask you to walk a certain way or say certain things all in effort to bring out your genuine smile. Also, a quick reminder, if you play sports, bring something along that speaks to that - maybe a letterman jacket, a hockey stick, or even a soccer ball. I want your senior photos to speak to who you are! When you’re prepping for your photos, I am at your disposal to go over all of your outfit choices so you come 100% prepared and excited!
