3 Tips for Boosting Your Confidence in Family Photography

Updated: Feb 20

I see you, Momma, documenting the lives of your kids. I see you taking the 1st birthday photos, photographing the Kindergarten Christmas show, or the first swim lesson, and then Prom. Whether it’s with your “big” camera or your iPhone, you’re getting all the shots except for one! The one with YOU IN IT! Read on for tips on boosting your confidence in family photography.

Every Mom should be in the photos. Whether those photos are of the whole family (minus you because you’re taking it) or of just the kids...YOU should be in the photos too. Your kids will want to look back and see you in the frame hugging them, tickling them, loving them. Every Mom deserves to not only be in the frame - but feel and look good in the frame. Let me help!

3 Tips to Looking and Feeling Fabulous

  1. Hug those kiddos! I know a lot of parents don’t prefer to look at themselves in photos. So here’s where I say, "Don’t be afraid to use your kids as a prop." Hold them close or put them on your lap if they're still little!

  2. Laugh, smile, giggle. Keep it natural. The more genuine you can be, the more beautiful it comes across in photos. AND, a smile is the most beautiful thing you can wear.

  3. Keep your outfit simple. Keep the tones simple. Busy outfits draw attention.

My goal is to make your photo shoot as fun and stress-free as it can possibly be for you and your family! So once you arrive to the session, let go and have fun! Let's focus on capturing this season of life. If you have any questions, gimme a shout! I would love to work with you.

I'm a natural light photographer working in beautiful, southern California! I focus on high school seniors + families. I photograph families + seniors all over San Diego, Poway, and Coronado and would love to work with you, document who you are today, and create memories that will last a lifetime!

Be well,

Robyn
